Wellington’s ice cream guy, Karl Tiefenbacher, will stand as an independent in the Wellington City Council’s February by-election for the Pukehīnau/Lambton ward. Karl Tiefenbacher For Wellington Karl founded Kaffee Eis 19 years ago, and it’s now a well-loved business that supplies gelato nationwide and employs over 25 people. There are three branches of Kaffee Eis in central Wellington; and over summer its manufacturing arm Gellicious Gelato makes a tonne of gelato every day. ‘I’m standing for council because I am totally invested in Wellington and our future, and I care deeply about the future of our city.
